A cat has suffered “appalling” injuries after being shot by an air rifle at close range in north Cornwall. Eleven-month-old Marmie had two limbs shattered in the attack when the pellet hit one of his legs, passed through his stomach and exited through another leg. His injuries were so severe that it was initially thought he had been hit by a car when he was found by the side of West Down Road, Delabole, last week. It is hoped Marmie, who had emergency medical treatment, will fully recover.
The feline, who had been missing from home for a week prior to the attack, has now been returned to his family. An investigation is under way to try to trace who shot him.
