This is a great article. I’ve seen ALL those movies, and I agree. I was torn with this concept when I wrote my first children’s book. I had never written a book before but was inspired by a real sea turtle. My problem was how do I get children to understand the sea turtles pain, and joy, without convincing children they wanted a turtle.

My daughter (10 year old) who now lives in Canada always want to go back to India immediately. To persuade her to stay in Canada, i try saying to her that she doesn’t get capital punishment in school in Canada for not doing homework. She replies that she don’t mind the occasional beatings at school in India because she want to be with her stray dogs which live near our house in Delhi. She is always worried about them and breaks down occasionally thinking about them even after a year. I agree with the article that stray dogs in urban settings are very clever and adoring…

But schooling is not the only place children learn things… In many parts of the world children’s penis and clitoris is cut on day seven after birth and meat is feed as soon as possible to develop habits….

Enlightenment and empathy is beyond schooling…. Buddha got enlightened not in the school…He was just travelling the world and learning from it…

This whole affair is totally sickening and even worse the Government is doing nothing about it, why is Australia putting dollars before ethics?, these are living creatures, our world is so messed up its not funny! Personally I am going veggie.
